LC's 3rd Birthday

Two months late...but better than never.  On June 1st, friends and family came together to celebrate LC's 3rd birthday.  It seems like she's been speaking and acting like a teenager forever, but it was still hard to believe she was actually turning three.

As with last year, the theme this year was again Thomas & Friends.  Thomas was still the number 1 blue engine in our house, but Percy was beginning to take a special place in LC's heart.  To try and top last year's in-neighborhood train ride, we decided to rent a Thomas bounce/playhouse for the party--yes it exists and yes it was a huge hit with all of the kids.  We had promised a special surprise for LC, and she was not disappointed when we showed her a gigantic Thomas inflated in the back yard.

The look on her face when she first saw Thomas

LC absolutely loved her inflatable Thomas, but after I heard her tell the first guest "Look at the Thomas I got for my birthday!!" while pointing to the bounce house, I realized we needed to explain he wasn't there to stay.  Thankfully, it didn't take too long or too many tears to explain that the bounce house was going back to where it came from at the end of the party.

LC was super excited to have Thomas as a party theme again, but was also very happy to see so many friends and family at the party.  We had a big group, with over 15 kids in our tiny backyard. Thankfully, the kids were entertained with pizza, cake, and of course, the Thomas house.

LC was so lucky to receive a lot of really fun and very thoughtful gifts.  Her favorites were the custom-made Thomas shirt and the Doc McStuffins doctor's kit.  Little did we know, but that would be the start of a growing love for the Doc.  Grammy was thoughtful enough to send a couple of gifts for LT; the hands-down favorite was his camera.  He spent a large part of the afternoon taking selfies and laughing like a maniac.

The weather was a little overcast and early in the morning we were questioning if we'd be able to have the party at all, but thankfully we were able to make it through without any rain.  It rained a little bit later, but we were able to deflate and then re-inflate Thomas for some additional post-party fun.  The four of us had a great time slipping and sliding on the wet bounce house.

We were so thankful to have so many wonderful people over for the party, and that LC was able to have such an amazing birthday.

While settle for water or juice when you can have both?
