Jessica had a work trip at Atlantis in the Bahamas, so Trevor and LC came along for some relaxation and a fun family vacation. Despite the angry car ride down to Orlando, the flight on a 30 year old plane with ash trays and no beverage service and the incredibly slow-moving pace of everyone on the island, we made it to Nassau with no issues. It took some work to get a car seat for the drive to Atlantis, because hey, it's the Bahamas, who cares? We made it safely to the resort and spent the next 4 days trying to have some fun, see the sights and most importantly, keep the little one happy.
All things considered, LC did really well on the trip. She had a hard time sleeping in the uncomfortable hotel crib and was not a huge fan of the beach or the pool but her and Dad had a lot of fun walking around and exploring the property. She loved watching the fish in the aquarium, crawling outside on the grass and even got a kiss from a sea lion--cutest thing ever, she got a kiss on the mouth and then started clapping, which made the sea lion start clapping--it was hilarious. Despite being incredibly nervous, both Mom and Dad had tears in their eyes.
The tough part about traveling and staying in a hotel with LC is the sleeping situation. The baby is asleep by 7, so Mom and Dad have to be extra quiet since the crib is in the same room as everything else. After spending one night eating on the patio and two nights eating in the bathroom, we finally decided to get a baby sitter so we could go out to a real dinner (something with flavor, which apparently was in short supply on the island) and spend some time in the casino. Probably the easiest money this woman has ever earned--sitting in the near darkness with a sleeping baby for 4 hours. Naturally our casino night was cut short by the masses of high school kids at Atlantis for spring break. Apparently the drinking and gambling age there is 18, which made us both feel pretty old.
We survived the trip back to Orlando and the drive back to Jacksonville (barely), although it took a couple of days for the little one to get back to "normal." I think she was thrilled to be back in her bed as she slept later than she ever has the first night back.
The Atlantis pictures have been posted here.
