Four Months

Things have been pretty crazy around the house as of late, so we're a little late with the four month update.  We were a week late, but managed to still create another set of custom onesies for LC.  Dad went with a comic book theme, while Mom brought in a little Luck o' the Irish.  LC was a little cranky during the photo shoot and didn't seem to be terribly impressed with either design.  She's expecting big things from both of us for Month 5.

As is to be expected, LC seems to be growing every day.  She went for her 4-month check-up earlier this month and came in at 15 pounds, 7 ounces and 26 1/4 inches long; Doctor said she was looking great and very healthy.  She seemed to thin out a little bit this month, but we think it's just because she's getting longer.  She also received her second round of vaccinations and was none to happy about the process.

Besides getting bigger, Jess and I agree that she's getting cuter every day.  She has become much more animated and personable and is so much fun to be around.  She's giggling a lot more and has even started trying to imitate sounds we make.  She's mastered rolling and can go stomach-to-back both left and right; she's no longer content just laying on her back.  She still is working on the mechanics of crawling, but can't quite get the timing right and isn't strong enough to go very far.  She's still able to roll/crawl/inch her way across the floor, which is pretty impressive to watch.  She's started pushing up on her forearms and knees creating some space under her belly.  We don't think it will be too much longer before she begins to put all of the pieces together and starts crawling across her room.

At the doctor's suggestion we started giving LC a little bit of cereal this month.  She looks like such a big girl sitting in her high chair and took to the spoon pretty quickly.  Rice cereal seemed to cause a little stomach discomfort for her so we switched to oatmeal cereal which seems to have made a difference.  We'll keep her on cereal for a while and then try starting her with some veggies to see how that goes.  Given the mess created with cereal, I can only imagine how things are going to look with vegetables.

LC's biggest discovery this month was without a doubt "I HAVE FEET...AND THEY'RE DELICIOUS." Seemingly overnight she started grabbing her feet and playing with them.  She'd lay on her back and roll back and forth holding on to her feet.  The next natural step was obviously putting them in her mouth (where everything now goes).  This has now become her new favorite activity and is really cute to watch.

After being so incredible on her first out-of-state trip (NYC), we're taking LC to Chapel Hill at the end of the month for homecoming at Carolina.  We figured this was a safer option than staying in town for the madness that is Florida-Georgia.  LC will get to meet some new friends and see where Mommy went to school, so it should be a very fun weekend.  The only part we're not looking forward to is the 7+ hours in the car each way.  We're planning on lots of stops for play time and stretching of baby legs, so hopefully she won't be too unhappy.

Once we're back from Chapel Hill we'll be up to month 5 and another update.  Jess and I can't wait to see what happens over the next couple of weeks and what the little one figures out next.
