Three Months

We celebrated LC's three month birthday last week with our new tradition - the onesie competition. Trevor once again displayed his artistic side, and he went old school ....

Jessica stuck with the flower/nature theme, but added a little word play this month...
Here are the photos from months 1 and 2.

As you can see, LC just keeps on growing.  And not just in size - she has learned so much this past month.  I'd say the biggest thing she learned this month was how to sleep through the night.  Trevor and I always joked that we both loved sleep so much, that of course our baby would be a good sleeper.  Well, LC certainly tested that theory the first few months.  Just like most babies, her sleep was pretty unpredictable, we rarely got more than three hours at a time, and bed time involved lots of screaming and crying.  Then one day, the night time stretches started getting longer, and we started getting very excited - rest, finally!  But, as Trevor posted previously, just as she was figuring out sleep, she started figuring out how to roll over (more on that later).  She would fall asleep on her back, roll over on to her stomach, and then wake up screaming.  This little scenario was happening pretty much every hour, all night long...it was not a good time for us.  After many nights of this, we were all very tired and frustrated, and then one night, it just clicked.  LC decided she liked sleeping on her stomach, and just like that, she started sleeping for 10 to 11 hours at night.

Trust me, Trevor and I realize we are very, very lucky that she is such a good sleeper at such a young age.  The funny part is that after these few months of stressing about bed time and sleep, LC is finally settling into a good routine and going to bed around 7:30pm - but now we both miss her once she goes to sleep.  And how could we not?  Look at how sweet she is -

LC has been rolling from her back to her stomach for a few weeks, but recently she figured out how to get from her stomach to her back.  She doesn't really roll around to get from place to place at this point, but she is working really, really hard at crawling.  Once she rolls to her stomach, she holds her head up high, moves her legs, sticks her butt in the air, and pulls with her hands, but she just can't seem to get it all going at one time.  She has learned to "inch worm" more than crawl, but is able to make it about a foot--but its a struggle.  It usually wears her out or she gets so frustrated that she starts fussing or crying.  Her babysitter also watches 8 month old twin girls who are crawling, so I think LC watches them do it during the day, and she really wants to be on the move, too.  Watching her get so frustrated trying to make it happen is adorable, funny, and sad at the same time.  I have to resist helping her or picking her up immediately because I know she needs to figure it out on her own.

We love the faces she makes while trying to crawl

Another big change this month was discovering her thumb.  We officially have a thumb sucker on our hands. She started out liking her pacifier, then she only wanted one of our fingers, then she discovered her own hands, and while she still likes sucking her hands/fingers, her thumb is quickly becoming her favorite.

One of my best friends from UNC and NYC, Lee, came to visit us last week.  She braved traveling through hurricane Irene, and it was so awesome to see her.  I love that she got spend time with the baby, and LC and Annabelle very much enjoyed getting spoiled by their Aunt Lee.

I think Lee is telling LC stories about her Mom...
A few other highlights from this month -

LC's first trip to the beach - she wasn't too impressed.

The super cute face she makes after eating while rubbing her belly.

Her first Gator football game.  She enjoyed game day, but slept through the actual game.

We have definitely entered the phase where she tries to put everything in her mouth.  Thankfully she isn't grabbing too many things yet, but she loves this ball.  Its easy for her to hold, if only she could just get it in her mouth...

LC is also quite the talker.  Shocking that I would have a talkative child, right??  She loves listening to noises, especially the ones Trevor makes, and then trying imitate them.  Here she is chatting with her Daddy.

She's getting much better at sitting up.  She likes chilling on Mom & Dad's bed and checking things out, and sitting on Mommy's lap.

She has grown so much recently, and I feel like she learns something new every day. Trevor and I can't wait to see what this month has in store.
